Finally, Animals are Receiving Rights
June 16, 2014 - By Hedley TurkWe humans are learning slowly that all beings deserve the right to live free and equal: Women were given the right to vote; the African American civil rights movement; Gays are allowed to marry. Now, this is a first step for animals:
“The Rhode Island House of Representatives has passed a resolution urging circuses and other traveling animal shows to eliminate the use of bullhooks and other “harmful training practices” that cause elephants pain. Even though the resolution is nonbinding—and we fought for an outright ban—this is certainly a first step in that direction.
Rhode Island is the first state in the United States to adopt such a resolution. Representatives also expressed concern about how captive elephants are treated in circuses and recognized that elephants are highly intelligent and family-oriented animals who have memories that span many years.”

Searching for Apollo

I was miserable, but when Saturday night arrived I had to go in to work at my job as a bouncer. At the end of my shift at the bar, I was exhausted, but Apollo was still the only thing on my mind. It was 4 a.m., and as I walked back home, I pondered getting my car and driving around again to look for him some more.

Humans Being Inhumane
December 21, 2013 - By Hedley TurkEast Hampton, Long Island is bringing in sharpshooters to kill thousands of deer…all because they consider the deer to be a nuisance. Is that what we’re doing now, killing thousands of animals because we don’t want them eating our shrubbery? Boycott East Hampton and its villages including Montauk, Amagansett, Wainscott, Springs and Sag Harbor.
