A common yet often overlooked cause of lower back pain are tight muscles in the legs and hips. Daily stretching of the quadriceps, calves, hips and especially the hamstrings may reduce if not eliminate back pain.

Begin with one basic stretch for each muscle. If you’re not familiar with stretching exercises, perform an internet search for “quadriceps stretches”, “hamstring stretches”, “calf stretches” and “hip stretches”. You can perform these exercises in one session or spread them throughout the day. Do each stretch two to three times, holding the stretch for thirty seconds to a minute.

Your goal when stretching is to increase your flexibility over time. Don’t push too hard. This is a gradual process.
